Maternity session at the Los Angeles Arboretum

Nestled amidst the vibrant city of Los Angeles lies a serene oasis of natural beauty – the Los Angeles Arboretum. On a crisp morning, amidst the whispers of rustling leaves and the gentle hum of wildlife, Maggie, Alex, and I met up at the entrance gate prior to starting their maternity session.

As a photographer, I've always believed in capturing candid moments that reflect the true essence of my clients. I want each gallery to be unique and true to the personalities of each client. Maggie and Alex shared this sentiment wholeheartedly, opting to embrace the spontaneity of the moment and the use of prompts and movement based ideas rather than stiff, posed shots.

Prepping for a maternity shoot in Los Angeles

From the moment they stepped foot into the arboretum, the love and anticipation radiating from Maggie and Alex was palpable. As they wandered through the lush greenery hand in hand, I couldn't help but marvel at the effortless chemistry between them.

Instead of rigid poses, I encouraged Maggie and Alex to interact naturally with each other, prompting them with playful suggestions that elicited genuine laughter and tender moments. Whether it was a gentle caress of the baby bump or a stolen kiss beneath the canopy of trees, each moment captured was a true representation of them as well as their feelings on starting a family.

One of the joys of shooting at the Los Angeles Arboretum is the abundance of picturesque backdrops it offers. From vibrant flower gardens to tranquil ponds, every corner of the arboretum provided the perfect canvas for Maggie and Alex's maternity shoot.

To prepare for your Los Angeles maternity shoot, consider the following points:

  1. What you want the backdrop of your session to look like. (beach, garden, urban...)
  2. The time of year you are looking to do a session. (Consider seasons, blooming seasons, sunset and sunrise times)
  3. What looks you want to wear. (consult your wardrobe guide sent after booking for tips and tricks)
