The second family to join me for a Holiday Mini Session was the Chrisman family! This was my very first time photographing them, so I was thrilled to meet them and their little ones!
The Chrisman family did an amazing job prepping for their session. Their wardrobe included solids, neutrals, and pops of color! No color was too overpowering. This attention to detail makes all the difference!
Primary colors are beautiful, but wearing them to your session might distract from the star of the show—YOU!
Mini sessions are quick, so we really have to make the most of our time together. That doesn’t mean that we can’t get some amazing photos in the process! There’s a lot we can do in a short time.
For a little extra variety, we used multiple back drops on the farm. Just by looking at this gallery, you’d never guess that it was a mini session!
From this festive Christmas camper setup to the glorious fields behind, there was more than enough adventure to bring tons of holiday magic!
Kids don’t always like to participate. That’s why I like to be flexible! The littlest one wasn’t having it AT ALL! It’s so important to be sensitive to the little ones. If they feel intimidated by poses or the camera, I don’t force them.
Even though she was so unhappy during the entire session, all wasn’t lost! We shifted priorities and opted for a candid, lifestyle approach (which is totally my jam anyway!) She responded a lot better to this.
By using prompts like walking, tickling, and talking to one another, we were able to capture their family in natural ways. I think these photos turned out all the better for it!
Thanks for trusting me so much with your holiday mini session, Chrisman family! It was an honor to meet you and document your gorgeous family. I hope to see you again soon!
