Now that you and your partner are engaged (yay!!) it’s time to document the occasion with an engagement photoshoot. But where do you even begin? There are so many Pinterest worthy photos and inspiration blogs out there that it can be a challenge to plan a photo shoot that is unique to you and your love story. But thankfully, you don’t have to rely on those predictable poses and overdone locations! As a Los Angeles wedding and couples photographer, my goal is to provide artistic and authentic images to each couple I meet. I never want to deliver the same gallery twice, so during our consultations and conversations surrounding your session, I will be working to plan a session that screams you!
Things to consider when planning an engagement session
As we work to plan your unique engagement session, let’s start with determining a location.
I always want my couples to think about the following points:
- What do you enjoy doing together?
- Where do you frequent often?
- What vibe do you want your images to have?
The location of your engagement session is going to set the overall tone for your gallery. The images below are from several of my couples who picked locations that stood out to them! From beaches and gardens to local fast food joints, each location truly suited the couple perfectly.
Once you have determined a location we can talk about props or items to bring to show off your personality or hi-light you two in an activity you love. You will see in the images below how couples incorporated classic cars, favorite food items, or an overall theme to set their gallery apart from others.
Prop ideas for your engagement session:
- musical instruments you play
- items representing a favorite sport or sports team
- favorite drinks or snacks
- hobbies or talents (painting, drawing, etc.)
